How it works
It's simple.1. Bring in your gear
Drop off your clean, functional outdoor gear during store hours. One bin per visit. Got a big haul or a large item (kayak, bike, roof box)? Contact us first to schedule a drop.
2. We Price It
We review your gear together, set fair prices based on condition and demand, and list it in the shop. You'll get a link to your consignor portal to track everything.
3. You Get Paid
Once your item sells, we pay you by check or Venmo. No dealing with Marketplace lowballers. No porch pickups. Just money - or store credit. (Using store credit gets you an additional 10% of credit).CONSIGNMENT TERMS
What Is Consignment?
You bring the gear. We do the selling. You get paid when it moves.
Crooked Trails operates on a split-based tier on sale prices. Here's how we break it down:
| Sale Price | Your Cut
| Up to $50 | 50%
| $51–$250 | 60%
| $251 - $400 | 65%
| $401+ | 70%Want more? Apply your balance as store credit and get an extra 10%.
A few things to know:
Crooked Trails does not buy gear outright. Payment is by check or Venmo only, after your item sells. Items are consigned for 90 days. After that, you're welcome to pick up anything unsold.
To keep inventory moving, we use an automatic price drop for items. Updated prices are shown on the price tags. Here is the breakdown:
After 30 days = 10% price drop (from original price)
After 60 days = 15% price drop (from original price)
After 90 days = 20% price drop (from original price - this is the final price until sold or picked up)
Crooked Trails maintains a no return, no refund, no exchange policy. Gear is sold "as-is" so please check it out thoroughly.
What Gear do you take?

We accept gently used outdoor gear that still has life in it. If it's clean, complete, and ready to go back out there, we want to see it.We take gear across most sports— hiking and backpacking, camping, mountain biking, climbing, paddling, and snow sports. Apparel from quality outdoor brands is welcome, too. And if you've got sporting goods or recreational equipment that doesn't fit neatly into a category — a baseball glove, a pair of ice skates — bring it in. We'll take a look.A note on seasonal gear:
Skis sell better in October than in July. Bring in your seasonal gear when its season is coming up — it'll sell faster, at a better price. Items that sit too long trigger an automatic price reduction, so timing your drop to the right season works in your favor. We don't accept:
Gear with core shots, blown-out soles, campfire burn holes, missing parts, or mystery stains. If it's been dragged behind a truck, chewed by a dog, or held together with duct tape — leave it at home. And if you wouldn't let a friend borrow it, don't bring it in. Department store or fast fashion athletic apparel stays at the door, too.
about us

We love it here. The trails, the peaks, the rivers — Plumas County has it all, and we think as many people as possible should get to experience it.
Crooked Trails was built on a simple idea: quality gear that still has plenty of life in it shouldn't sit in a garage collecting dust. It should be out there helping someone explore the backcountry, bike a new trail, or strap on skis for the first time.
We keep good used gear affordable and in circulation so more people can get outside and experience the Lost Sierra.
